The content of Greek mythology is not a simple matter. There is an endless series of narratives from different eras and with different origins, for which great efforts have been made to locate, classify, cross-reference and compare them with parallel myths, historical narratives and events, so as to put together the texts as a whole. However strange it might seem, a Greek myth is not quite a “fairy tale”. It represents some distant eras, fills in historical gaps and, above all is an indicator of the cultural level.
